Abstract

Road asphalt must be in prime condition to provide safety road for users. Asphalt concrete coating (Laston) is a kind of asphalt coating that can adapt well to high traffic. The quality of asphalt concrete can be improved by adding a substitute asphalt mixture, such as Rubber Sheet. This research was carried out at the basic stage of determining the percentage of Optimum Asphalt Content (KAO) for asphalt mixtures in general. Rubber sheet substitution was carried out with variations in content of 1%; 1.5% ; 2% ; 2.5% ; and 3% after reaching a KAO value of 5.7%. From the Marshall characteristic test results, it was found that the ideal rubber sheet content is 1.5% with stability of 1134 kg, flow of 3.95 mm, VMA of 16.71%, VIM of 4.44%, VFB of 73.17% , and the MQ value is 287 Kg/mm. The results of these values indicate that the addition of rubber sheet influences the increase in the durability of asphalt concrete to accept traffic loads.
